A weekend away

The weekend before Isaac’s birthday (yes, I’m posting backwards in time), we were lucky enough to spend two days at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor.  Thanks to my wonderful mom, who won us the getaway, we had a lovely time and a really relaxing weekend!

Mom and Rachel babysat while Isaac was sleeping, so we could get out and watch a baseball game, or go out to dinner – not one but TWO nights in a row.  We spent the unseasonably warm days walking along the waterfront, taking in all the sights.  I forgot my camera, but luckily Chris had a decent camera on his phone.

I don’t even like candy, but this store was the cutest!

give me that, Daddy!

Self-portrait by phone – not exactly a success:

Oh well.  Despite having Mom and Rachel around, we didn’t manage to get a picture of the three of us.  I need to get better at remembering to bring the camera!

Overall, it was a fantastic weekend.  From the chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne in our room at check-in to the fantastic restaurants in the hotel and downtown, it was an amazing place to visit.  Isaac loved cruising around town and meeting lots of new people.  He made friends everywhere – especially with all of our female waitresses ;).  We definitely want to go back – we didn’t even have a chance to try out the pool!  And they are building the National Children’s Museum right next door, which I’m pretty excited about.

Thanks Mom, for the great weekend away!
