My flight leaves in four hours! I’m so excited I can barely stand myself! On my way home at last…
Yesterday was quite a stressful day in our house. My car ended up back in the shop, for one, after costly repairs just two weeks ago. And the fact that the budget has still not been passed is having a direct affect on us.
Chris received word yesterday that if the budget does not pass today, his entire schoolhouse will be put on furlough without pay. Besides the fact that if those guys aren’t working, that means lots of really bad guys are getting away with some pretty awful crimes online, this means some pretty bad stuff for us personally…financially.
Chris does have some vacation saved up – a few days – that he was planning on taking after the baby was born so he could travel down to Louisiana and then drive us back up to Maryland. It looks like he will be forced to take that next week, instead. Then, if the budget still isn’t passed, he will be on unpaid furlough until it is. Which could take how long? Days? Weeks? The longest they’ve ever gone without budget legislation has been 27 days. Well, we just can’t do 27 days without pay…we’ve got a mortgage and other bills to pay!
I’m hoping they pull it together and something gets passed today. Let’s all hope that!
I’m trying not to let all that worry put a damper on the excitement that I feel about heading home today. One one hand, I can’t believe this day is here already and on the other hand, I feel like I’ve been waiting for years!
Birthmother hasn’t gone into labor yet, and I’m hoping we have another week still before baby arrives (the due date is next Friday). All we do now is wait!
Please pray for a safe flight for me, and that the U.S. government gets their act together today! I’ll see some of you soon!
congrats. have a safe journey.loved your story. welcome to motherhood! it is an amazing journey!
That’s horrible news about Chris’ job 😦 I have been following it in the news… but for whatever reason, I never stopped to think his job would be affected! We’ll just pray that they get it together today and pass something. Positive thinking (even when dealing with the government) 🙂
On the other hand… YAY!!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to see you 🙂 Have a safe trip, love you, em
